Houston Golf Association (HGA) is a non-profit organization that promotes a professional sporting event. Net proceeds from the Shell Houston Open PGA TOUR event annually benefit local charitable groups. Funds generated by the Houston Golf Association are put to work in the Greater Houston Area. HGA's community service ranges from the charitable contributions derived from the Shell Houston Open to giving local non-profit agencies the opportunity to participate at no cost in the Birdies for Charity fund-raising program. Another aspect of community service the HGA fosters is its academic college scholarship program. This scholarship program is based on academics and need, rather than golf skills. The First Tee of Greater Houston Chapter, which is administered by HGA, boasts two facilities. The David Shindeldecker Campus at Redstone Golf Club features the Dick Harmon Learning Center. The other campus is at Houston Oaks Country Club and Family Sports Retreat. Discover more details about HGA's service by checking out the Core Charity navigation banner on the lower left.
