The Shell Houston Open PGA TOUR event wil be played the week of March 28-April 3 on the schedule in 2011. It will be the lead-in tournament the week prior to The Masters. Los Angeles-born Anthony Kim, now a Dallas resident, is the defending champion. Net proceeds of the tournament benefit Houston Area charities. Houston is the 10th oldest stop on the PGA TOUR. The Tournament Course, designed by renowned architect Rees Jones, was constructed to be both spectator friendly and a challenge to competitors. Shell Oil Company has been the title sponsor of the event since 1992. At the 2006 tournament PGA TOUR, Shell Oil and HGA officials announced a five-year contract extention of the existing agreement through 2012.
